Structural relaxation in vitreous arsenic selenide induced by γ-irradiation

Abstract

Peculiarities of γ-induced (Co60 source, 1·85 MGy absorbed dose) structural relaxation in vitreous As10Se90 are investigated for the first time using differential scanning calorimetry. The observed increase in glass transition temperature and relaxation rate towards the thermodynamically equilibrium state of the supercooled liquid are explained in terms of radiation induced structural transformations occurring within the glassy like network without any changes in local atomic coordination and covalent bond type.
